⛵️HILL INLET⛵️
What’s like a raspberry ripple, but blue?
(I probably should have posted this on Blue Monday with a suitably inspirational caption, but there you go...)
.
This viewpoint is a short walk up from the beach at Tongue Inlet, on Whitsunday Island, where we had picked up a mooring buoy for a couple of hours. It’s pretty popular with tourists, and you can see why!
THE YEAR AHEAD
For the first time in a long time, I have no travel plans whatsoever! The last two years have seen some epic trips, but now I’m back in the UK for the foreseeable future and focusing on the new home, new job, and catching up with all the family and friends I have missed whilst living abroad.
.
Facebook reminded me that this time a year ago we were in Japan, and at the risk of sounding as old as I really am: isn’t it scary how quickly the year has gone?
.
Happy New Year to everyone still reading: I hope 2019 is a great one!
🇯🇴 DEAD SEA 🇯🇴 Jordan is my last stop in the Middle East before I head back to the UK, work, and all things festive. .
I’ve loved experiencing a little bit of Middle Eastern culture and seeing a few different places whilst I’ve been living in this region. That said, our life in Saudi was far from integrated, and I’ve barely even scratched the surface of places to see and things to do.
.
I’ll hardly be seeing any of Jordan this time either- other than the drive from the airport to my very international hotel! .
It’s all very well searching for an ‘authentic’ travel experience, but sometimes it’s just nice to have a proper treat!
❤️LEST WE FORGET❤️ This weekend, we remember the fallen in ceremonies and services all over the world, for the 100th time since the Armistice of 11th November 1918.
.
The First World War will feel like ancient history to many of us, but only a few generations separates us from those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the ‘war to end all wars.’
.
Tragically it didn’t turn out to be the end of all wars - far from it - and so many brave lives have been lost in conflicts since. .
We will remember them.
.
(I wasn’t going to post this picture as, despite the solemnity of the occasion, as soon as a camera was pointed at me I automatically reverted to cheesy grin mode. But then I remembered the words ‘for your tomorrow, we gave our today’ and decided that life’s too short not to smile when you feel the urge!)
